Dan Hicks '84 Wins SigEp Citation

The SigEp Citation is presented to alumni who have achieved uncommon success and stature in their professions and careers. These brothers have revolutionized their industries, created change in our society, and brought honor to themselves and to their Fraternity.

Since the Citation was first presented in 1965, only 248 brothers have received this high honor. At each Grand Chapter Conclave, we add deserving brothers to this select group. Next month in Orlando, we will add three accomplished brothers to this prestigious list.

Dan Hicks, Arizona ’84, and his iconic commentary have become synonymous with the Olympic Games. As lead swimming commentator for NBC, his voice became the soundtrack to Michael Phelps’ historic Olympic career. He is also in his 15th season as anchor for NBC Sports’ Emmy Award-winning golf coverage, broadcasting the PGA Tour and U.S. Open among others. In 2014, he took over as lead play-by-play voice for NBC’s coverage of Notre Dame football.

Keith Bruce, Illinois ’87, facilitated the third most-viewed event in American television history — Super Bowl 50. As CEO of the Super Bowl host committee, he attracted over a million fans to a nine-day pregame festival for the nation’s most-anticipated sporting event. An expert in sports marketing, he’s also worked on the Olympics, PGA Tour and World Cup. Bruce currently serves as executive consultant for the North American Soccer League.

Dr. Bob Hartsook, Emporia State ’70, revolutionized the fundraising industry. As founder of the Hartsook Companies, he has helped nonprofits raise an astounding $231 billion. The consulting firm is widely recognized as one of the top fundraising management firms in the country. At just 21, he was named dean of students at Colby Community College, and a few years later he raised $100 million as a top administrator as Wichita State.
